Hi Everyone
For todays blog we will be looking at what the professional event and conference photographer in Edinburgh, Scotland does on a vacation. Do photographers leave their cameras at home or do they continue shooting all the way through their holiday. Well I for one tend to keep shooting, as it seems a shame to be in a new location, probably with a wonderful outlook and for you not to take advantage of it. I usually travel light, however and I find I have to take the photos fairly quickly, as I don’t want to spoil the vacation for other people.
I also tend not to use a tripod, so I can travel light and act in a fast and efficient way. As an infrared photographer, the summer holidays are often the best time for me to photograph with lots of sunshine and foliage around, just perfect for infrared photography in Scotland. This year I visited the Trossachs and there were plenty of opportunities for infrared and landscape photography. I also often use my family and dog for that matter, as props in the photos, usually in the foreground, as you can see in the images which contain my wife and our sausage dog.
I also feel as an event photographer working in Edinburgh, Glasgow and throughout Scotland, it can be invigorating to photograph landscapes, also you tend to be more relaxed and this always a good thing in photography. Finally, the practice is also useful and I can assure you I have already made some money on stock photos I took when I was on holiday, I also stayed rent free in exchange for photos. So get snapping everyone and make sure you come back with some cracking images when you return from your vacation.
All the best
