Hi Everyone
I paid the Kelpies a second visit on friday to photography this wonderful location in Falkirk in Infrared. This has always been a favourite place of mine for infrared photography for a while now, particularly since I took my first few infrared photos at the Kelpies when I used a digital camera converted to infrared 6 years ago. I had done film infrared as part of a College project but it was on visiting the Kelpies that I first got excited about fine art infrared photography. So what is so special about this location, well for one it is surrounded by hills, boats, trees and a canal, all making it ideal to showcase this brilliant work of art. The metallic surface of the Kelpies also looks great in infrared, with light reflecting on and through the artwork. You can also show the scale of the installation next to the visitors and it looks like they are looking down on the people in a powerful threatening way. There is good scope for both close up and landscape images. As a professional corporate and event photographer who also photographs fine art, this a great opportunity to improve your infrared photography skills and a relaxing location to visit. I also like to use the water reflections and trees, all of which look great in both black and white and colour infrared.
So, enjoy the photos and let me know what you think.
Kind Regards
Colin
