Hi Everyone
After one of my busiest summers as a professional event photographer in Edinburgh and around Scotland, I am ready for some indoor work with the winter conference photography season kicking off, starting with an NHS conference in Edinburgh next month. I thought I would continue with some corporate conference photography tips:
- Make sure all the non-photography things have been carefully arranged in advance ie parking, gear preparation, journey time (work it out then add an hour, you just cant be late)
- Try to cover all the ground without appearing as a pest
- Get clear instructions of what the client requires well in advance of the conference, as it could affect what gear you bring
- Take only the gear you need, with back-up of course – believe it or not I still hear of photographers who take only one camera
- Be friendly and helpful at all times
- Try not to use really large sport like telephoto lenses, this can be too obtrusive
- Make sure you capture the day with candid photos outwith the presentations
- Give people breathing space during the presentations, once you have your shots, back-off
- Be prepared for the unexpected request
- Make sue you have your timings correct ie there is no scope to miss that shot when the politician arrives
Hope that helps
Until next time.
