A great day on monday at the Nauticus Bar in Leith for a whisky blending event for Douglas Laing and Co. Although I am the photographer at these type of events, I always find I take better photos if I can immerse myself into the general atmosphere of the event, almost like a guest. I think this is why photographers often take better photos when they know their clients, that sense of relaxation, takes away the pressure of a corporate photography commission. Mind you, I did stop short at tasting the whisky, ie a) I was working and b) I was driving. the other great thing about being a commercial photographer in Scotland is that the variety of commissions means you learn so much, I now know much more about whisky blending and bottling. Some of the subjects I have learned about through photography are taekwondo, whisky, rugby fish farming, touch rugby, medical topics from photographing conferences in the UK, theatre, construction sites, architecture and much more. it is something I never expected, anyway, hope you like the photo, more to follow soon from this event.
