I have had the privilege throughout the last few weeks of photographing in some very grand locations in Edinburgh. Its not always like that I can tell you and sometimes the locations can be very dark dingy and unforgiving, but recently I was at Edinburgh Castle and then the General Assembly Church of Scotland building, both architectural landmarks in the Capital City. Both commissions had a brief I had to adhere too, with a number of images I was required to capture, some formal posed or award shots and they also enabled me to use my creativity to get the best reportage/candid shots from the day. This way, you have a timetable, but you also have freedom to express yourself creatively and this is probably my preferred type of photography. This is also the case for the conference photography events I photograph throughout Scotland. Both events were hard work and a bit stressful, but also very enjoyable and everyone seemed to be enjoying the day. Although they were very different ie one for CrossReach, the Church of Scotland and the other one a UAE country promotion event, the set up is usually the same with speakers and networking and a good photo is a good photo, no matter where or what the subject matter is. Anyway, here are a couple of shots. The sun is shining now, so I think I will pop out and get some infrared photos later along the coast in East Lothian, Scotland.
