So today we are going to discuss AI and how it effects the professional event photographer in Scotland. I will also look at its uses and some of the many objections to this advancement in technology.
So how will AI affect the professional conference and event photographer in Scotland.
If you are a conference photographer in Edinburgh or an event photographer in Glasgow, then I expect AI will not affect you as much as a landscape photographer for instance. You are there to capture the best parts of the event, all the emotion and to then send the images to your client, or publish them online. As a former newspaper photographer, I cannot see my day change much with AI. I will still send the images from the football game as soon as I can and if they look in any way fake, then I will be called up for this, as someone will notice it. So who will be affected and what is the main objection. Well, landscape photographers will have issues with AI. A request to replace the sky with a sunset or a shooting star can be made and merged into an existing photo.
What is the problem, I hear you say, as we have been doing composite blending for years now. Well the big difference is one of the images being used will not have been created by the photographer. Will the person who supplied the background get paid or credited. How will this affect photography competitions. Is it not like cheating. Not only did that particular scene not exist in the real world, it also means the photographer has not captured a moment, as the moment was never there. Artists and talented photographers will feel they are wasting their time creating a magic moment in time, if someone can do it by the click of a button. Here are some landscape photos of mine, none are AI generated. Colin Wright Photography, Edinburgh and Glasgow corporate and event photographer | Landscape. There are also some on this website in infrared, which again were not AI generated but will probably be able to be mimicked using AI. So how can the photographer benefit from AI
Well, there will be ways AI can shorten the time taken for social media tasks and blogging for instance. It is also anticipated that AI will be incorporated into software such as photoshop and there will be less need for lengthy editing. This is just some of the uses in AI. I am no expert and not in a position to go into great detail on the subject just now, but it s brief look into the new world we are entering.
So happy snapping everyone
Kind Regards
